The weather is getting less hot and the fall items are coming out so I wanted to add some pieces to this new season (my favorite because there's no allergy in company) and hope they will not too dated next year or so.
1. Boucle/Jacket. May be I recently fell in love with Isabel Marant or Isable Marant's jackets have something reminds me of Chanel jackets...I think the round necked jackets/boucles are very versatile in the cooler days. Even when the weather becomes very cold, we can still wear it as an indoor accent piece, etc.
I still recommend Rebecca Taylor's charcoal boucle or Vince's black boucle. They are bit pricey but I think a jacket is supposed to last for a few years and I think it's worth to invest in. I am getting one piece only so I am not going to get anymore boucles until spring. I think I will put some money aside to buy a IM jacket, something like the Flana jacket.

2. sweater. A round neck sweater with some color blocking effect that seems to be very IN for the fall. I think it's kind of a continuation of the S/S color blocking trend. I bought one eight years ago and it is still sitting in my closet. So I will wear it this fall. I really think buying something you really like and keep it and it will come back to cheer you up. The new sweater trend, they meant to be bit oversized and mine was quite fitted, I think I would not let this little detail to avoid me from wearing it. The thing about fashion is to look right and fit you body type.

3. Pants - skinny / wide legged trouser. Skinny jeans/pants are on it's way out and wide legged pants are making their way in. I paid some attention to designers and some are not willing to let skinnies die too soon. Personally I am not a big on trousers, I like dress, skirts and shorts. But I do love leather, and I think leather leggings/trousers are just not going to die down soon. The thing is wide legged pants cannot really show off the footwear and skinnies on the contrary is a great piece to show off the shoes. So I am pretty sure skinnies still has some staying power so don't be afraid to get a pair of good quality skinny leather pants. Leather pants/leggins are so expensive, so either put them on your wish list and wish they will still have your size when it's sales season or you can look for a pair on ebay. Zara currently has a pair of genuine leather leggings for $259 and I think that's a great price. I like the look of pleather leggings but they don't breathe and just because of this reason I don't recommend it. It's not very healthy approach. I sort of live in my leather pants in the fall/winter so I need a good pair.

4. Boudeaux. This color is just so gorgeous and if you can get a piece of boudeaux scarf, pants or tops, it will add so much more fun in your wardrobe. I have been quite color limited in my wardrobe and I think this color mix really well with white, gray, black. It's a color you can carry on till spring.

5. Accessories.
Scarves would be my biggest accessories for the fall and winter. I think it's very easy and fun to play with necklace, bracelets and rings in spring and summer. But in the colder days you wear scarf, gloves and all and it's just not very convenient to wear jeweleries. And scarves can make the whole simple mono outfit stand out with a dash of color or accent piece.

6. Fur. Either faux or genuine fur, fur collar/scarf, fur vest and fur coat will still be big trend the coming winter. The attention on the market is still on fall but when it gets colder fur will take over. It's probably the best time to buy some fur items while it's still not sold out. I saw this Anna Sui's faux fur coat on NAP for $495, it's very flattering on the body. I saw another one from Michael Kors and the fit is more boxy and it's sold out already. But I think it's genuine fur and they are about the same price.

7. Coat. I don't have enough body fat to stay warm so I always needed a very warm coat. I used to wear this long cover my knee beige down coat. It's very warm but it was not very attractive. I never felt attractive when I wore it but I sure was warm. I finally bought a Theory (fur on the inside) coat. I have to say my last winter wasn't shabby and I looked and felt great. I bought it at Neiman Marcus (NJ) for the obvious tax free reason and also I got it 40% off. May be people in NY are just too wealthy and I was never treated badly by SA in NYC but I have to say the customer services in NJ was so much personable and when there's a sale, the chance of having the item in my size is so much bigger. It's such a trip to go to NJ for me so I only do it on something expensive and worth the effort to go all the way to NJ. In terms of what coat to get, I would say get something that flatters your body type and fits your personality. Pick something simple and not very trendy, it's expensive and sort of an investment (I don't buy coat every year) piece so take your time to buy something that your heart would skip. That's how I felt when I saw the coat I bought. And if your personality is more about convenient and efficient, pick a coat that's not too long. I've seen people wearing long coat and it just either dragged on the dirt subway stairs or the women had to pick the coat up not to touch the floor, with handbag and gloves and all, it's just not convenient to me.
