Paul & Joe Sister Organza Dress

dress: Paul & Joe Sister, get it here
blazer: Zara, get it here
shoes: Isabel Marant

I got this amazing and romantic dress on NAP and I just love it. It's size 36 (French sizing) and I thought it's a little big (too low at the torso) but the color and detailing was just so darn nice. It's a little darker IRL than on the screen.

I have been trying to get really good with my photography skill and was playing with it last night. I never thought my bathroom look so nice...thought it's a pic i wanted to share. :P

IRO skirt

top: Theory
skirt: IRO (from shopbop), get it here
jacket: Zara, get it here
belt: Zara (chain), thin (Club Monaco)
shoes: Celine

I have been so obsessed with Isabel Marant lately and saw this skirt by IRO has the resemblance of IM and it's 70% off ($87 after discount) on Shopbop....I just couldn't pass this up. My size was sold out already and I got the size 2...it just sits lower than I would like but nothing majorly turned me off.
The Zara blazer was something I saw and fell in love instantly. The fit is great and the design with the zipper was something I really like. The black tweed is something ordinary but the the zest of zipper, the whole blazer just got a lot more character to it.

Inspired by the IM runway photo, I wanted to do the double loop belt but was too cheap to buy a belt just for this purpose and then I saw Wendy's Lookbook and she used two different belts to belt her jacket. So thanks to Wendy, I used two different belts to add some accent to my waist area.

Bad news - the buckle of my shoes just fell off on my way home. Do you think the cobbler can fix it? Please let me know.  I got them last season and was hoping to wear them for at least another one or two winters...they are very comfortable. I was very upset and looked for the missing piece but couldn't find it.

Tunic - my easy and friendly piece

tunic: Corey Lynn Calter for Barney
leggings: Theory
boots: Isabel Marant
jacket: Isabel Marant Etoile

I wasn't really in the mood to go to work this morning and I just picked up this old tunic that I've had for years. It's silk and still looks pretty except the color is no longer as lovely as new.

Isabel Marant Boucle

top: Rag & Bone pocket tee (on sale for $73 at shopbop), similar here
skirt: Illia for Barneys, similar here, here and here
jacket: Etoile Isabel Marant (seller: chicpetitcherie)
shoes: Isabel Marant, Dana boots (seller: mademoiselle_eg)

I got both the IM jacket and boots on ebay. IM boots was about $1200 (I don't know how much exactly sorry) retail and I got them for $850, the thing was we did it outside of ebay that's why she gave me the deal. I am a US size 7 and this pair of boots is 38. They are a little big for me, I will have to wear thick socks and buy a pair of thicker insole so my feet won't slide in them. People said Dana runs small and I think so but only half size...so this pair would be perfect for US7.5.
The material of IM jacket is very similar to a sweater and it's very comfortable. I do love the fact it looks like a jacket and feels like a cardigan. I saw one with different pattern/color on ebay now and it's listed for over $550. I don't know the original price, but the price tag that came with this was 230 euro and I got it for $250 plus shipping. The seller was a very nice lady as well and technically mailed the jacket out the same day I paid. That I really love about her.
With these two ebay purchases, I sent them messages with my offered price. They both agreed to my offers and one offered me off ebay and one added the best offer option. Since I was paying with paypal and I knew I was covered. And I also paid with credit card so there really wasn't that much risk towards it. I am not suggesting doing off ebay though, just my experience. I think I took a risk and thank God the seller was a honest seller.

Layers

sweater: Zara kid's collection, here, similar here
pants: Vince (ebay)
scarf: Theory, similar here and here
shoes: Celine
cape: ebay (seller greenforest168)
clutch: Chanel

I love layers and am having fun just adding pieces to get this warm look. I got this fur scarf at NM for 40% off, there was some sort of event and there was no way to get this kind of deal in NYC. I love getting sweet deals. I believe this cape was inspired by Zara's cape few seasons ago and I found something look alike. The cape was about $69 + $25 shipping. I love cape just because it's so easy and you don't need to think too much. Right now, this cape is sold out on ebay but if you look for the items from this seller, the brown version is still in stock. And she also have other styles cape/coat, i think it's worth checking it out. For this cape, I got the size S, I think it looks better if the shoulder is not wider than the actual shoulder width. There's no collar so I thought adding a scarf makes the look so much more interesting.

Bordeaux + Gray

top: American Apparel, here
pants: Zara, here
jacket: Rebecca Taylor, here
shoes: Celine
clutch: Chanel

I was very excited to match the bordeaux skinny jeans with my RT jacket, the color just look so nice together. The booties are from Celine and I got them on Yoox.com at a reasonable price, the best part I love about the shoes are the heels are only 2-1/2 inches, so comfortable just walking around.

see, how happy I am...hahahaha

Sweaters

We were talking earlier about Isabel Marant Ritchi sweater was selling for over $600 on ebay and a lady was telling us a Zara kid's sweater had a very similar design.

Isabel Marant Ritchi

Zara, kid's jumper

And I stopped by Zara recently to check out what they have and I found these two look alike sweaters. I didn't buy anything but had a little fun at the zara fitting room. someone was recommending the zara kid's sweater very similar to the isabel marant ritchi...and i bought it. i got the biggest size and it fits quite well...and today I saw another version was very similar, the fit was better. it's bit longer and slimmer than the kid's version. but the color and the weaving was not as great. and kid's sweater is 30 bucks cheaper...i think i can take that little imperfection.
the adult version fits TTS. the red one is small and the gray one is M. i like the S better. the white that you see from the sweater is actually silver IRL. i saw the stock photo and it didn't capture that silver. i did think white would have been better than the silver. the elbow patch would be better if they were dark chocolate/black/gray instead of silver..it just cheapen the look.

and excuse the overload bordeaux..the pants were mine and i just kept them on without changing to something else...

Happy Hour

I went out for a happy hour after work earlier this week.

fall trend - must haves

The weather is getting less hot and the fall items are coming out so I wanted to add some pieces to this new season (my favorite because there's no allergy in company) and hope they will not too dated next year or so.

1. Boucle/Jacket. May be I recently fell in love with Isabel Marant or Isable Marant's jackets have something reminds me of Chanel jackets...I think the round necked jackets/boucles are very versatile in the cooler days. Even when the weather becomes very cold, we can still wear it as an indoor accent piece, etc.
I still recommend Rebecca Taylor's charcoal boucle  or Vince's black boucle. They are bit pricey but I think a jacket is supposed to last for a few years and I think it's worth to invest in. I am getting one piece only so I am not going to get anymore boucles until spring. I think I will put some money aside to buy a IM jacket, something like the Flana jacket.

2. sweater. A round neck sweater with some color blocking effect that seems to be very IN for the fall. I think it's kind of a continuation of the S/S color blocking trend. I bought one eight years ago and it is still sitting in my closet. So I will wear it this fall. I really think buying something you really like and keep it and it will come back to cheer you up. The new sweater trend, they meant to be bit oversized and mine was quite fitted, I think I would not let this little detail to avoid me from wearing it. The thing about fashion is to look right and fit you body type.

3. Pants - skinny / wide legged trouser. Skinny jeans/pants are on it's way out and wide legged pants are making their way in. I paid some attention to designers and some are not willing to let skinnies die too soon. Personally I am not a big on trousers, I like dress, skirts and shorts. But I do love leather, and I think leather leggings/trousers are just not going to die down soon. The thing is wide legged pants cannot really show off the footwear and skinnies on the contrary is a great piece to show off the shoes. So I am pretty sure skinnies still has some staying power so don't be afraid to get a pair of good quality skinny leather pants. Leather pants/leggins are so expensive, so either put them on your wish list and wish they will still have your size when it's sales season or you can look for a pair on ebay. Zara currently has a pair of genuine leather leggings for $259 and I think that's a great price. I like the look of pleather leggings but they don't breathe and just because of this reason I don't recommend it. It's not very healthy approach. I sort of live in my leather pants in the fall/winter so I need a good pair.

4. Boudeaux. This color is just so gorgeous and if you can get a piece of boudeaux scarf, pants or tops, it will add so much more fun in your wardrobe. I have been quite color limited in my wardrobe and I think this color mix really well with white, gray, black. It's a color you can carry on till spring.

5. Accessories. Scarves would be my biggest accessories for the fall and winter. I think it's very easy and fun to play with necklace, bracelets and rings in spring and summer. But in the colder days you wear scarf, gloves and all and it's just not very convenient to wear jeweleries. And scarves can make the whole simple mono outfit stand out with a dash of color or accent piece.

6. Fur. Either faux or genuine fur, fur collar/scarf, fur vest and fur coat will still be big trend the coming winter. The attention on the market is still on fall but when it gets colder fur will take over. It's probably the best time to buy some fur items while it's still not sold out. I saw this Anna Sui's faux fur coat on NAP for $495, it's very flattering on the body. I saw another one from Michael Kors and the fit is more boxy and it's sold out already. But I think it's genuine fur and they are about the same price.

7. Coat. I don't have enough body fat to stay warm so I always needed a very warm coat. I used to wear this long cover my knee beige down coat. It's very warm but it was not very attractive. I never felt attractive when I wore it but I sure was warm. I finally bought a Theory (fur on the inside) coat. I have to say my last winter wasn't shabby and I looked and felt great. I bought it at Neiman Marcus (NJ) for the obvious tax free reason and also I got it 40% off. May be people in NY are just too wealthy and I was never treated badly by SA in NYC but I have to say the customer services in NJ was so much personable and when there's a sale, the chance of having the item in my size is so much bigger. It's such a trip to go to NJ for me so I only do it on something expensive and worth the effort to go all the way to NJ. In terms of what coat to get, I would say get something that flatters your body type and fits your personality. Pick something simple and not very trendy, it's expensive and sort of an investment (I don't buy coat every year) piece so take your time to buy something that your heart would skip. That's how I felt when I saw the coat I bought. And if your personality is more about convenient and efficient, pick a coat that's not too long. I've seen people wearing long coat and it just either dragged on the dirt subway stairs or the women had to pick the coat up not to touch the floor, with handbag and gloves and all, it's just not convenient to me.
